As a professional learning community, Avonmore staff and parents all share a collaborative culture with a focus on student learning.  We are committed to continuous improvement and are focused on results.  We see the goal of improved student learning as a team effort and we feel that the better we are at aligning those efforts and keeping our communication open, the more likely it is we will improve student learning and achievement. We believe that parents are a significant part of this team and as such we value their ideas and efforts in helping us continue to change and move forward. As we prepare our students for our ever changing global society we are committed to providing an educational experience that includes an emphasis on the universal character virtues that will be equally as important in the future as they are today.  Through modeling and daily teaching, we will ensure that the values of good citizenship and exemplary conduct are a significant part of our educational programming so that Avonmore students may be recognized as positive role models and citizens.  This emphasis on character development is the basis of our conduct policy.

Our students are very much a part of the digital age and we are therefore using the tools of today to better prepare our students for a rapidly changing future.  Our commitment is to effectively use technology to engage students in the classroom.  In order to meet this goal our instructional staff is engaged in professional development to learn how to use these new technologies to better serve our student population.  Teaching and learning in the classroom will take on a new look as students begin to master the use of technologies that have mainly been used for recreation and communication, and will now be used as tools to improve knowledge and understanding.  This is an exciting time as we all learn together!
