AVONMORE SCHOOL COUNCIL
Welcome to your School Council. It is our mission to foster the well-being and effectiveness of our School community to enhance student learning.
Your School Council is a collaborative group of parents, guardians, teachers, principal, staff, and community members. Parental involvement in School Council and its initiatives plays an important role in the students’ success. Every parent or guardian of a child at Avonmore School is automatically a member of our School Council.
The School Council advises the school staff and principal on issues of importance. These can include the School philosophy, mission and vision, discipline policies, improvement plans, programs, directions and budget allocations to meet student needs.
The School Council would like to see and hear from all parent and guardians of the school community. It would be wonderful for parents and guardians to attend our regular School Council meetings as they involve a valuable exchange of ideas on a number of school specific and general educational matters. Our School Council will meet at 6:30 pm, typically on the third Tuesday, of most months throughout the school year in the library. Please check SchoolZone for upcoming meeting dates.
NELLIE L. McCLUNG SOCIETY
All parents of students attending the Nellie McClung program in Edmonton Public Schools are welcome and encouraged to attend meetings. The Nellie McClung Society works collaboratively to support the learning objectives of the program at all three program sites (Avonmore, Oliver, and Bannerman).
